BIZZ Discoteca Básica e a história da música pop
Quem respirou música nos anos 80 e 90 lembra — a Discoteca Básica fechava cada edição da Revista BIZZ apresentando um disco clássico para toda uma geração de leitores famintos por informação. Foi ali que muita gente formada em sucessos de FM e programas de playback na TV teve seus primeiros contatos com discos clássicos conhecidos (Beatles, Pink Floyd, Raul Seixas) e obscuros (Can, Blue Cheer, Walter Franco) de outras eras. A história da música pop era contada aos poucos, um capítulo por vez, indo do Sgt. Pepper’s na edição #1 ao Cartola na derradeira edição #215, abrangendo das raízes do blues do Robert Johnson gravados em 1937 ao Grace do Jeff Buckley lançado em 1994. A Discoteca Básica é até hoje a seção mais lembrada pelos ex-leitores, e acabou servindo como a proverbial cartilha musical de uma geração.
Em 2014 publiquei aqui no Medium um post originalmente escrito em 2011 no Facebook contendo análises e estatísticas sobre as DBs publicadas na revista. Além dos discos ordenados pela data de publicação das resenhas, incluí alguns números por década (anos 70 ganham de lavada), contagens por ano, discos mais antigos e mais recentes, os discos mais jovens a aparecerem na seção (Joy Division e Grace Jones foram DBs com 7 anos, David Bowie e Pixies com 8 anos)… enfim, tem tudo lá.
Agora em tempos de streaming pensei em retomar esse trabalho e criar uma playlist no Spotify com uma faixa de cada DB, procurando incluir a faixa mais significativa de cada álbum. Mas ao invés de seguir a ordem de publicação das resenhas, abri o Excel e montei uma lista por ordem cronológica de lançamentos, considerando ano, mês e dia. Deu mais trabalho do que devia — boa parte dos discos mais antigos não tem uma data precisa de lançamento (ainda mais discos brasileiros), então nesses casos assumi o primeiro dia do mês quando só encontrava o mês de lançamento, ou o primeiro dia do ano quando nem o mês tinha registrado. Nos casos de compilações de “greatest hits”, fui buscar as datas dos lançamentos dos singles ou dos álbuns originais, para que na playlist essas músicas aparecessem na posição do lançamento original, não da compilação. E nos casos em que os discos em questão não tinham no Spotify, incluí alguma faixa desse mesmo disco tirado de algum outro álbum ou coletânea — por sorte foram poucos casos, a imensa maioria está disponível no catálogo da plataforma.

No final, saiu uma linha do tempo bem didática contando boa parte da história da música pop em 215 capítulos — ou, ok, 214, já que o Pet Sounds estranhamente foi resenhado duas vezes, e aparece aqui em dose dupla. Enfim, ouçam lá!
